MVO stands for the primal way of life of me, Kristin "Fox" Peterson. In short, it stands for "Meat and Veggies only" which is the foundation of my diet (note that I do also indulge in a few nuts, butter, etc. on occasion). In short, I believe that eating a healthy diet of meat and veggies (doing our best to avoid processed foods) all the time, and letting there be 10% or so error for having to go out to eat and getting food incidentally cooked in an unappealing way, this is the key to having the body establish a healthy place and weight and a feel-good-ness.
MVO is not a place for people who don't like massive quantities of food. If you can't chow with the big dinos, stay out of the Jurassic... if you can't take out half-a-chicken... MVO may not be for you!
MVO requires that you don't sit around eating all day. You eat during daylight hours like your ancestors, usually 2x a day. Maybe 3 if you are hungry. So learn to eat big!
MVO is not a place for people who don't like fat. We love fat. Fatty fish. Fatty meat. Pemmican. Bacon. Chicken skin. These things have minerals. Still, it's not all fat. We also love protein. And good veggies.
MVO is a place for clearing up digestive issues and having all day energy. It's a place for saying, all my back pain and knee pain are gone! My zits are gone! My teeth feel shiny! I can climb trees and run and feel good and when my neighbors are quiet at night, I can sleep.
MVO does not include grains, sugars, dairy products, lots of nuts, lots of fruits, legumes, or anything processed... BUT MVO also accepts that you're going to slip up. I slip up. Sometimes I accidentally eat sausage that has processed goop in it. Sometimes I on purpose eat it. This happens to all of us. But the more you think about it, the harder it is to live the free life of MVO. So if you slip, climb back on the bandwagon.
MVO is a way to feel good about your body without having to work out for 10 hours a day. But MVO also appreciates working out and suggests 6 -7 days per week workouts that involve at least some HARD effort, as well as as much as possible movement!
MVO is about accepting abundance. Do you know how many safeways are around? A LOT. Today is not the last day you can ever buy beef. Stock up if you want, but don't stock up if you'll go out of control. There's always another deli counter.
MVO is about occassionally trying new things. Spelt roe? Offals? Fresh fruits, nuts, etc. in season (as SPECIAL TREATS not as daily dishes). MVO loves new fish and meat. And new veggies. But MVO also knows that chicken is the basis of the food pyramid.
Welcome to MVO. A way of life that will give you back your life, confidence, and happiness!
*note: this diet is acceptable for me based on discussions with the health clinic about having uncontrollable blood sugar and avoiding lifelong insulin and thyroid treatment. it is also appropriate for someone with IBS and low blood albumin. It may not be for you. And you may not like it. But for me it is thriving, and if someone else suffers what I do, this is good to share!
